Liza Lou

My first introduction, which I can remember, to the creative artistic world was in 2002 when I went to an exhibition for Liza Lou at Hennie Onstad art centre in Norway. I was only 11 years old at the time, but I still remember the great impression it made on me.

The exhibition included some of her famous works like the large-scale kitchen and a backyard, all made of tiny glass beads. I could stay there for hours just looking at all the details, from the plates in the sink to the lawnmower on the grass. Just to think about the amount of time she had put into every little detail was really impressive and astonishing to me. She has influenced me with her detail orientated and perfectionist work. If it was not for her, I guess I would not be the perfectionist I am today, and I mean that in a good way.

She inspired my to use various kinds of material, not only paper, paint and pencils. As a graphic designer you sometimes have to think out side the box and come up with new and creative ways to show your work, and Liza Lou has defiantly been an inspiration to me there.
