For my
fourth research object I chose the I love NY logo. The American graphic
designer Milton Glaser is the designer behind the famous logo. The reason why I chose that logo is because
it never stops to amaze me how a very simple design can become so well known.
The logo has even become a symbol for the city of New York, one of the most
popular cities in the world. One of the things I want to work with as a graphic
designer is branding and marketing. To create a simple, but at the same time
powerful logo for a company can be very challenging. That’s mainly because a good logo should only
consist of a few elements. The way Milton managed to create a logo by combining
the pronoun I, a red heart symbolising love and the letters N and Y (New York)
into one of the most famous and powerful logos of our time is very
inspirational. Milton Glaser is a great graphic designer who are and will for a
long time be a legend when it comes to logo design. And the I love NY logo will
probably live on for many, many more years after his death.
