The fantastic Tim Walker

Lily and spiral staircase
A great inspiration and a person I admire is Tim Walker, a London based photographer with a long history of shooting stories for Vogue. I would say his style is unreal fashion photography, since his staging is often theatrical and magical, almost like a fairytale. Tim manages to combine several elements in a creative, colourful and playful way, which creates a curtain atmosphere to his pictures. Some of these elements are props like human sized bugs playing instruments, a swan boat, gigantic skeletons and dolls and snails sliding down the walls. He uses only natural light and shoots most of his pictures outside or in real locations. You can easily see that there is a lot of thought and planning behind each of his pictures, which to me is really inspiring.

Since the first time I laid my eyes on one of his pictures, I was totally in love with his characteristic style of photography. On October 30 I went to the Somerset House in London to see his Story Teller exhibition. I was literary wowed by every single picture and to see some of the props was amazing. Even though I am not a photographer myself, he inspires me to want to take more pictures. He also inspires me in the sense of adding more layers and elements to different creative projects. The amount of work behind every picture and the fantastic outcome makes me want to spend even more time on creating that little extra on my next project.
