Steven Pattison

For my last and final research object, I chose an illustration by Steven Pattison. His illustrations are very colourful and modern and immediately caught my eye. He creates his illustrations by using a variety of different methods with pencils, paint, ink and spray paint. His work is then finished in Photoshop

In the illustration I chose, Steven has drawn some well-known everyday products in bright colours. I have always liked art were products we normally don't think much about is given a different approach. By looking at the products in Steven’s illustration I start to think about all the planning and design that goes into making a product design. And who says that a bottle of washing liquid should look boring? Inspired by Steven’s methods, I really want to try to draw or paint something and then finish them in Photoshop later. It reminds me that you don’t always have to make everything from scratch in Photoshop. Drawing or painting first and then edit the work later will give the colouring a little extra glow and makes it stand out more. Steven’s illustration is full of colours and energy and makes me want to buy an everyday product and make art out of it.
